What is CBD? How CBD works on Pets?

What is CBD?

CBD is short for “cannabidiol”, one of more than 80 different cannabinoids found in the hemp plant and it is NON-Psychoactive

Naturally the body of all mammals produce cannabinoids involved in regulating physiological and cognitive processes, appetite, pain-sensation, mood and memory, through Endo-cannabinoid System (ECS). Offering CBD allows the ECS to work harder and be more productive to help overall health conditions.

CBD for pets is becoming more mainstream tan ever before, that´s because it works.

CBD brings hope for pet owners looking for a better and natural alternative to prescription medications.

How CBD Works on Pets?

Research shows that pets like all mammals have an Endo-cannabinoid System (ECS) which produce the body’s own Endo-cannabinoid compounds, which science now knows play an integral role in maintaining the body’s homeostasis, meaning the ability of the body to function within safe limits

This system works with a network of receptors (CB1 and CB2) in the central and peripheral nervous systems. At the cellular level, it is hugely responsible for regulating balances in the body’s immune response, appetite, gut metabolism, memory functions and more.

  • CB1 receptors exist mainly in the brain and central nervous system. They impact areas such as appetite regulation, memory, emotions, and feelings of pain.
  • CB2 receptors are concentrated in the gastrointestinal tract and peripheral nervous system (nerve cells outside the brain and spinal cord) and modulate immune cell functions. When activated, they help reduce inflammation.

Endogenous cannabinoids are produced when the body signals that they are required, but are quickly degraded. Offering CBD (exogenous cannabinoid) allows the ECS to work harder and be more productive to help our pets deal with health issues such as:

  • Separation Anxiety
  • Stress during traveling
  • Inflammation and Pain
  • Lack of Appetite
  • Digestion & Gut Health (gastric ulcers – colic -nausea)
  • Allergies
  • Arthritis and Mobility
  • Seizures & Spasms
  • Immune System Support
  • Performance Recovery
  • Overall health
